Pacific Pin Club applauds RBC Pin Program

A Pacific Pin Club Editorial

In the world of pin collecting and trading -- and especially with Olympic Games -- many of our members and hobbyists look for that most elusive of treasures ... pins distributed by corporate sponsors.

That's why the information shared by Vancouver Sun's 2010 reporter Jeff Lee in his May 26, 2008 edition of the Collector's Corner was so welcomed by pin collectors and traders in general, and this Club in particular.

It said, in part ...

"RBC has produced at least nine corporate pins since it joined VANOC's fold. Like all Olympic corporate pins, they are not for sale to the public, and all but one is only for internal use. Staff is permitted to buy them. The one pictured here is being handed out free to the public as part of the RBC Olympians Program. The catch is that only the Olympians hand them out, and only at certain events."

The Pacific Pin Club applauds RBC for continuing their long-standing support for Canada's Olympic and Paralympic athletes, for stepping up to the plate and becoming a Vancouver 2010 Premier National Partner, and for creating pins and encouraging the hobby of pin collecting.

RBC gets it ... it understands the real and perceived value of pins to the recipient, and it freely hands them out.

RBC gets it ... it provides pins to staff, to customers, and to the public through the RBC Olympians program.

RBC gets it ... it has created "at least nine corporate pins" and will undoubtedly continue to create even more pins right up to the Games.

RBC gets it ... it is investing in and extending its brand, it is establishing a one-of-a-kind association with the Olympic rings -- the most recognized symbol in the world, and it is creating goodwill each and every time it gives a pin to someone.

RBC gets it ... and the Pacific Pin Club is delighted it did.

And we hope all of the other sponsors will get it too.

Keep it up, RBC !!

RBC is a Premier National Partner and the Official Investment/Retail Banking Partner for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games. RBC Financial Group's support for Canadian athletes has been steadfast since it made its first contribution in 1947, assisting the Canadian team's travel to the Olympic Winter Games, held in St. Moritz, Switzerland. It was the beginning of a relationship that has continued for 60 years.
